Gold Medal Service Announces Lifetime Guarantee

Award-winning New Jersey home service company offers peace of mind and protection to homeowners who need to purchase repairs

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. May 20, 2014 – Gold Medal Service, an award-winning heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, drain cleaning, and waterproofing service company in New Jersey, has announced its new Lifetime Guarantee for homeowners who purchase the company’s recommended repairs.

The Lifetime Guarantee covers about 90 percent of the parts and labor Gold Medal Service experts provide to homeowners all over New Jersey, as long as they own the home. If a covered repair service is performed, or a covered part is installed in a home, the warranty guarantees free repairs on the covered service or part as long as the homeowner owns the home. The Lifetime Guarantee does not pass on to another owner.

“We want all our customers to have peace of mind when it comes to spending money on a repair service,” said Mike Agugliaro, Gold Medal Service co-founder. “We stand behind all of our services, and we value our customers and treat their homes with respect. I am excited to be able to offer this unique Lifetime Guarantee to give our customers another level of protection.”

To be eligible for the warranty, a Gold Medal Service expert must recommend a repair to the homeowner, and the homeowner must accept the recommendation. This could include the installation of such things as plumbing fixtures, circuit boards, light switches, and many other items. In certain cases, the warranty may only cover a part of a unit, such as a blower motor replaced in a furnace. In that case, the Lifetime Guarantee would no longer be valid once the entire unit (e.g. the furnace) needed to be replaced. Consumable parts, such as bulbs, batteries, and filters are also not covered, as these need to be replaced on a regular basis.

Gold Medal Service has started advertising the Lifetime Guarantee on billboards across the state of New Jersey.

“I know it’s a big decision to repair or replace something in your home,” said Agugliaro. “With our new Lifetime Guarantee, our customers can rest easy knowing they’re protected if anything goes wrong with something we’ve repaired.”

Homeowners Need to Prepare Home for “Pollen Vortex”

Gold Medal Service aids in keeping New Jersey homes allergy free

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. April 29, 2014 – Calling this spring a “Pollen Vortex” may seem intense; however, following this winter’s harsh temperatures and polar vortex, many New Jersey residents are facing an intense allergy season this spring.  For that reason, Gold Medal Service, an award-winning heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical drain and waterproofing services company, offers New Jersey residents some tips to help pollen-proof their homes.

“It’s important to take steps in making your home as allergen-free as possible, especially with the increased pollen we are facing this spring,” said Mike Agugliaro, Gold Medal Service’s owner. “While no home can ever be 100 percent allergen-free, with the right steps you can reduce your exposure to common substances like dust mites, pet dander, mold and pollen.”

Pollen travels best on warm, dry, breezy days and peaks in urban areas midday. Pollen counts are lowest during chilly, wet periods.

Compared to other allergenic particles like mold, dust mites and animal dander, pollen grains are large and heavy and settle faster from the air.  According to the Asthma Foundation of America here are several ways to pollen proof a home:

  • Control dust mites. Keep surfaces in the home clean and uncluttered. Bare floors and walls are best, particularly in the bedroom where people spend one-third of their time. If a homeowner must have carpet, throw rugs that can be washed or low-pile carpets are better.
  • Vacuum once or twice weekly. Vacuuming helps keep allergens to a minimum.  A person with allergies should wear a dust mask while doing housework. Use a damp or treated cloth for dusting. Leave the house for several hours after cleaning it.
  • Prevent animal dander. Most doctors suggest that people allergic to animal dander not keep household pets with feathers or fur.
  • Prevent entry of pollen by keeping windows and doors closed. Air conditioning in warm weather is best and also helps control dust mites by reducing humidity. Change filters often in window units.

Taking proactive steps to keep a home clean will improve indoor air quality and will help a homeowner reduce the pollen count in a home.  To learn more about improving the overall indoor air quality in a home visit www.goldmedalservice.com. For more information about Gold Medal Service call 800-576-GOLD.

Improve Indoor Air Quality during Asthma Awareness Month

Improve Indoor Air Quality during Asthma Awareness Month

Gold Medal Service offers advice to help New Jersey residents keep the air inside their home clean and free of common asthma triggers

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. May 6, 2014Gold Medal Service, an award-winning heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, drain cleaning, and waterproofing service company servicing all of New Jersey, advises area homeowners to take advantage of Asthma Awareness Month, particularly World Asthma Day, May 6, by improving their homes’ indoor air quality

“With the weather getting nicer in New Jersey, families want to spend more time outside or have their windows open, but that can be dangerous for people dealing with asthma,” said Mike Agugliaro, Gold Medal Service co-founder. “Our experts can assess the air quality inside a home, and show homeowners how to ensure they are breathing clean, healthy air all the time.”

More than 25 million Americans live with asthma, a chronic lung disease that causes frequent episodes of wheezing, coughing, and breathlessness. Children and adults with asthma are sensitive to irritants in the air, both indoors and outdoors. Because it can be difficult to control outdoor asthma triggers, such as air pollution, vehicle exhaust, wood smoke, and fumes, it is important for asthma sufferers to monitor the Environmental Protection Agency’s Air Pollution Action Days and limit outdoor activity on orange or red alert days. However, it is also important to address indoor air quality (IAQ) and minimize irritants inside the home.

Common indoor asthma triggers include the following:

  • Secondhand smoke
  • Dust mites
  • Mold
  • Cockroaches and other pests
  • Pets
  • Chemicals

Homeowners can take some proactive steps by cleaning surfaces weekly with a damp cloth and vacuum with a HEPA filter, keeping humidity low and using fans to ventilate air, and controlling pests.

To minimize irritants even further, though, it’s important to address any leaks that could lead to mold growth, and to ensure that the air circulating through the home is clean. The experts at Gold Medal Service can repair leaky faucets and pipes, check and replace air filters, and perform routine maintenance on an air conditioning unit. They can also help homeowners identify when it’s time to replace a unit that is no longer effectively circulating clean air into the home and dirty air out of it. And they can advise on the option of installing a specialty IAQ system, which can further protect families from asthma triggers. These systems have been proven to reduce colds and minimize time away from work.

“Asthma can be difficult to deal with, but it is manageable if you take steps to keep your home clean and healthy,” said Agugliaro. “Our experts have the tools to help improve indoor air quality and ensure that you keep your asthma symptoms under control.”

New Jersey Residents Preparing to Stay Cool in the Summer Heat

Gold Medal Service encourages pre-season cooling system tune-up to improve efficiency,
improve indoor air quality and increase comfort

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. April 15, 2014 – Now’s the time for New Jersey homeowners to get their homes ready for the spring and summer weather, says Gold Medal Service, an award-winning area heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical and drain service company. Gold Medal Service experts have already started their busy spring check-up season, helping homeowners repair any damage caused by winter storms or power outages, and ensuring their air conditioners are in prime condition before the summer heat. The company has started to get a lot of calls for air conditioning maintenance and repair, and stresses that now is the time to get it done before the hot weather arrives.

“Your air conditioner is most likely to break down on the hottest day of the year – which is also the busiest time for service contractors running calls, so you could face long wait times if you experience an outage,” said Mike Agugliaro, Gold Medal Service co-founder. “Plus, most manufacturers require routine maintenance on a system to keep the warranty valid.”

Not only will Gold Medal Service experts check homeowners’ air conditioners, but they will also be happy to take a look at plumbing and electrical systems hit hard by snow and severe storms that have plagued New Jersey this winter. Cold temperatures can make pipes prone to freezing and developing leaks, and power outages can have a rough impact on electrical wiring in a home.

“If there are any problems in your home, the longer you wait to fix them, the bigger a problem they could become,” said Agugliaro. “Homeowners don’t want to have to pay more money for repair or replacement on pipes or electrical work down the road, so it’s best to get everything checked out now to make sure small problems do not escalate into bigger issues.”

Students Learn Essential Business Skills Thanks to Local Entrepreneur

Owner of one of New Jersey’s largest home services companies, Gold Medal Service, shows teens from the Princeton Learning Cooperative how to run a successful business

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. March 24, 2014 – Teen students from Princeton Learning Cooperative, a center offering personalized education opportunities to students, visited the offices of Gold Medal Service, one of New Jersey’s largest and most successful heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, and drain service companies Monday, March 24 for a hands-on business education experience. Mike Agugliaro, Gold Medal Service co-founder and ServiceKey business mentor, gave students a tour of his company and talked with them about business processes, including recruiting, marketing, accounting, and management.

“My son is a part of the Princeton Learning Cooperative program, and I am just so impressed with the opportunities the center offers to students,” said Agugliaro. “These kids have the opportunity to really personalize their education to things that interest them, and to get outside of the traditional classroom to see what it’s like to work in the real world.”

Agugliaro grew Gold Medal Service into a $23-million-a-year home services company, serving the entire state of New Jersey. He started ServiceKey in 2013 to show other service business owners how they could use his techniques to grow their own companies, and he is eager to guide the next generation of entrepreneurs, and encourage young people to pursue a career in the home services industry.

“So many kids are choosing not to go into trades like plumbing, electrical, and HVAC anymore, so there’s a real shortage of qualified technicians and entrepreneurs in the industry,” said Agugliaro. “I want to show teens who are about to have to make some big life decisions that they can do well in this business, be very successful, and have a great time doing it.”
